Looking back and moving forward
I met Janel while living in the suburbs of Chicago. I was the stuck-in-the-mud “soccer mom” running around town with kids, squeezing in a run and constantly sporting my workout clothes. We’d meet in the park for wine on Fridays, grab coffee, take a dip in Lake Michigan or have spontaneous, casual dinners at each other's homes. Every once in a while, the opportunity to attend an event in the City or a local ”gathering” would come up. What to wear? I was so out of touch with fashion and utterly resisted having to plan an outfit. Who saved me? Janel! She would pop over with clothes and accessories from her closet and create an instant ensemble. Perfect. She dressed me in a blink of an eye. Phew!
Sadly, Janel returned to California. But even from there, she continued to be my go-to girl. Despite the distance, I relied on her to continue to dress me by sending me look books with outfit suggestions. It always amazed me that she did it so quickly and with ease. Talent! An unexpected perk of Janel's living in California was that she was able to plan a perfect girls weekend in Sonoma for my BIG 4-0. Prior to the trip, she gave us the itinerary with suitable outfit suggestions. All six of us arrived at our beautiful rented house overlooking the valley. It felt like we were living back in the sorority house, borrowing each others clothes and swapping accessories, all while Janel guided us. She generously dispensed fashion advice and made sure we were fashionable and dressed to our full potential. Of course, she focused on all five of us first; then, within seconds, she'd throw on the perfect outfit for herself. While there, Janel sat each of us down individually and went over the look books she'd created for each of our body types. It was an incredible parting gift!
Now that I have returned to my hometown in Dallas and am transitioning from being a full-time stay-at-home mom to entering the workforce, I continue to rely on Janel to direct me. Janel is extremely talented. She is direct in a very positive way, has an eye for enhancing your body type and knowing which clothes will look best on YOU. When I wear what Janel suggests, not only do I get compliments, I feel stylish and trendy. But most of all, I'm confident and feel comfortable in my own skin. Who doesn't want that?
Janel helped me transition from the day-to-day-survival mode to finding my way back into fashion. Janel, keep using your talents and doing what you love.. It's a gift to all of us lucky gals!
