Women Who Are Crushing It - Eileen Fisher
Female Empowerment. Commitment to the Planet. Modernist.
Since 1987, Eileen Fisher has been designing simple, elegant, understated pieces with a distinctly modernist edge. She has created an international brand that flies just under the radar, but never skimps on quality. Since her early days, Fisher has had one goal: to make clothes that make women feel confident. Of her brand, she has said, “We make clothes, let's not forget that. The clothes matter. Sometimes I've thought we are doing a superficial thing. But when I'm wearing something that makes me feel good, I am more willing to contribute, more willing to speak. That's what we're trying to do for women. We're trying to give them clothes that feel like an extension of themselves. That's our core work.”
The environment, female empowerment, and the lives of the Eileen Fisher workers are also top priorities for the designer. The company has made great strides to foster and grow a company culture that promotes the wellbeing of all involved. Their fabrics and materials are sourced locally whenever possible and are all sustainably manufactured and ethically produced. They are committed to encouraging their team members on all levels to share ideas on how to best serve their customers, their business, and the global community. The Eileen Fisher Foundation serves to empower female entrepreneurs and provides grants to female small business owners and partners with local community non-profit organizations who mentor and cultivate young girls to become leaders in their own right. In the past, non-profit partners have included, Adaptive Design Association, Girls Leadership Institute, and Girls Who Code.
Three decades of female empowerment, a commitment to the planet, and Fisher’s modern approach to fashion and business make her our #WCIW of the week. To learn more about Eileen Fisher and the company’s work, visit eileenfisher.com.
