The Classic Trench Coat

We all know that regardless of anything, a pair of jeans will always be hanging down somewhere in your closet, those classic pair of heels will be just within reach and that little black dress is always ready to save the day for any event. Yet, I don’t think there is a more iconic fashion staple then the trench coat.

The trench is the ultimate classic for transitional dressing.  From the workday in suits, pencil skirts and dresses to our weekends in skinny jeans, casual skirts or dresses and shorts - the trench coat literally looks great with anything.  It’s chic and sexy too, which is hard for a jacket that is tailored and covers everything up too.  We all need one.  Versatile in any style and looks great on all body types, here are 5 ways to wear your trench coat this spring.

The Tomboy:  Throw on your favorite boyfriend jeans, tuck in a fun button-down and slide on your favorite booties.  No need to belt the trench, leave it open for that casual and chic look.

The Office:  Whether you wear a fitted skirt or trouser, keep the top simple and classic.  To create a feminine yet ready for business look, be sure to cinch in the waistline of your trench coat.

Streetstyle:  Play with layers of different textures and color range.  Black leather pants and a contrasting blue silk blouse makes your look modern and edgy.  Throwing on your trench coat instantly adds some posh to that tough girl image.

Ease into Spring:  Delightful spring colors of dresses, shoes and belts are a great way to ease into the warmer weather.  The neutral color of the trench coat will balance the look and keep you warm on the chilly spring nights. Instead of trying the jacket, belt it neatly in the back to show off those fun patterns and colors.

Simple & Classic:  For those chilly days with winter just doesn’t want to leave, a printed scarf can compliment a trench coat nicely while keeping your cozy and warm.  With a warm sweater and color trousers, casually tie the trench coat belt in an easy knot.  This keeps the look refined yet relaxed.

With the warmer weather on its way, wear something a little lighter that doesn’t require a scarf, hat and gloves!  xx-j
