That's A Wrap! New York Fashion Week 2015
We’re back! In addition to gorgeous weather, New York Fashion Week greeted us with plenty of inspiration for spring 2015--most notably, culottes! (Everyone was wearing them.) And the Janel Dyan team rocked our agenda with visits to Worth New York, Kut from the Kloth and Kate Spade. Our takeaways for the fall had us dripping in texture, shaped up with clean lines and adorned in rich colors. A peek at our week...
Exploring Worth: We kicked off our Monday morning with a fabulous, private styling with Heather Gallagher of Worth New York. An exploration of their elegant showroom led me through a collection of beautifully tailored, high-fashion styles. (I quickly found several pieces that I’m coveting for my personal wardrobe.) At the top of my list was a cashmere/faux fur vest in camel color. It’s fabulous for any occasion. You can cozy it up with jeans, a turtleneck and boots, or rock it with a pencil skirt, high boots and a killer clutch. Next up, a snood. But yet so much more chic. Finally, an accessory of note: the black/blue belt, which is a great twist on a classic style. Three words: textures, clean lines, colors. The Fall/Winter line is on-trend and I can’t wait to begin styling my clients with it.
Starting Conversations: En route to our next meeting...we stopped by Lincoln Center for photo opps. I was approached by a Brazilian designer who asked to take photos of me and “my styling!” And this led to a discussion (and a video) about fashionable tech. I was wearing my gorgeous, gold-tone watch by Pebble, my edgy black onyx, gold ring by Ringly--these pieces always started a conversation everywhere I went!
Taking a Peek at Spring:s A visit to Kut From the Kloth's showroom gave us a glimpse of what's in store for spring. There are plenty of denims, new washes, updated styles and of course, old favorites like boyfriend jeans that are still on trend. Oh and the colors! Some of my favorite pastels are in this season, salmon, cream, mint! Color me happy!
Getting Ideas: One of the most fun things to do during NYFW is to people watch. We walked around for hours (in our high heels) and spent plenty of time observing the street style.
Meeting Kate: The JD team finished off the day with a whimsical, exquisite private styling at Kate Spade in Manhattan. We were given the red carpet treatment as we perused everything fashionable for fall and spring. Textures, colors, classic pieces with beautiful forms and clean cuts. Oooh la la.
