Triple Crown and Big Hats: Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont
Today we’re watching the Belmont Stakes--the 147th annual running of the 3rd jewel in horse-racing’s Triple Crown. As we watch American Pharaoh take a shot to be the first Triple Crown winner since 1978, the team at Janel Dyan are thrilled to pull out those big hats, rock some killer accessories and head off to the races!
The dress code for the Belmont Stakes is...elegant. No shorts, t-shirts or jeans! Men typically wear sports coats or suits, while women usually wear dresses or skirts with stylish tops. Since Belmont Stakes is such a big affair, use these simple tips to ensure you look your best--from head to toe.
Hats: Fashionable hats and fascinators take any outfit from pretty to stunning!
Dresses – Leave the cocktail dress at home! Think classic and feminine when putting together your race outfit. Be sure to bring a cute jacket or sweater in case the weather calls for it. You can always throw it into your oversized tote, along with those fabulous heels you’ll wear as you walk in.
Colors - If you’re an American Pharaoh fan, a great way to show support is to incorporate the colors of his “silks” (aka the jockey’s shirt) into your outfit. With a pop of turquoise and yellow, your look is perfect for the summer styles.
Shoes – Yes, heels or wedges are perfect to pair with your dress! But here’s one caveat: once you find your seats and the races start, put those high heels into that oversized tote and slip on some cute flip flops for comfort. It’ll be a long day at the races!
Have fun watching the Belmont Stakes wherever and whatever your plans. And don’t miss Race No. 11! Here’s to American Pharaoh making race history!
